How to measure an existing space:
There are several steps to creating the floor plan of your existing kitchen. While it is detailed and must be as accurate as possible, it is not a complicated process.
Site Measures (Puget Sound Area Residence Only)
Site measures are available for those who have difficult projects or do not have time to measure your space. Fees for site measures are $100.00 per visit. Please e-mail to schedule an appointment.
Step 1: Drawing a rough sketch of existing kitchen
You will first need to draw a rough sketch of the existing space. This is a simple birds-eye view of the area. In this sketch, include all walls, windows,
pass-throughs and doorways (note a left or right door swing if applicable). Graph paper is recommended as it will help you to keep your drawing tidy. Outside each doorway, identify adjacent rooms (i.e. dining, hall, etc). Note any obstruction such as a pantry closet, heat vent, fireplace, laundry shoot etc.
